‘Disturbing’ sex scene between Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman slammed as ‘weird’

A ‘disturbing’ sex scene between Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman has been slammed by viewers as ‘weird’.

Now Freeman has spoken out about a controversial sex scene which was featured in the erotic thriller Miller’s Girl. Fans were left “grossed out” by the age gap between Freeman and the Wednesday actress.

The Hollywood duo have a 31-year age gap in real life – Martin, 52 and Jenna, 21. In the movie Ortega plays an 18-year-old student named Cairo Sweet and Freeman is her teacher, Jonathan Miller.

Things heat up between the pair, and the promotional photos reveal the actors getting close in a near-kiss stance.

But the age gap romance sparked rage online as fans flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “I think I am finally done watching these age gap movies. They are all gross and I am tired of it. No amount of Jenna Ortega or Martin Freeman could save this one for me.”

However, in a recent interview with The Times, Freeman said he thought Miller’s Girl had provided a ‘grown up and nuanced’ story.

“It’s not saying, ‘Isn’t this great’,” he said of the film, reminding some audiences that depiction doesn’t mean endorsement.

Freeman mentioned that narratives on various topics might be affected by connection, adding: “It’s unfortunate. Should we criticize Liam Neeson for starring in a movie about the Holocaust?”.

Another defender of the film was director, Jade Halley Bartlett.

She said she understood the initial knee-jerk reaction to the trailer, and labelled the flick a ‘horror romance’.

“My hope is that people go in and see that it’s more nuanced than that. I hope that people go in and can have grace for characters who are not the binary,” she said.

“The perfect victim is boring. It’s boring to write. It’s boring to be.

“I think it is dangerous to keep writing women as the perfect victim because it doesn’t allow us any agency.”
