BBC Breakfast host says ‘you can look now’ as Sally Nugent reveals huge fear

BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent was left squirming throughout the latest broadcast, which featured several exotic animal related segments.

Sally and co-star Jon Kay introduced a story recorded at an animal refuge centre in Lincolnshire, who have been forced to take in a variety of pets including snakes and bearded dragons after their owners are unable to look after them.

At the end of the clip a python was seen wriggling across the shoulders of one of the centre’s workers prompting Jon to quip: “You can look now. You can look again.”

Bursting into laughter, Sally responded: “Yeah… not my favourite animals, but I know they’re hugely popular with lots of people.”

Earlier in the instalment, Sally and Jon had been joined on their red sofas by Ethan Spurrier and Annalise Sidwell from the Association of Protecting Exotic Species along with a python, a corn snake and a bearded dragon.

Holding onto two of the animals, Annalise explained: “Once you find your love for reptiles, some people just delve straight into the deep end, the more exotic the better. It gets more expensive the more exotic you go really. The costs just add up.”

Annalise then asked Sally if she’d like to hold the python, which she immediately declined. Instead she asked the guests what people should take into consideration if they’re thinking about getting an exotic pet. Jon chimed in, asking Sally: “Are you thinking about that Sal?”

“Not currently, no,” she replied, giggling.

Sympathising with Sally, meanwhile, one viewer declared on X (formerly Twitter): “Reptiles freak me out #BBCBreakfast. Another added: “Jesus wept, I think I’ll stick to our Persian cats #bbcbreakfast.”

A third joked: “Reptiles on tv instead of Tory ministers this morning! Spot the difference? #BBCBreakfast.” And a fourth said: “I kept a bearded dragon once… cost a fortune in heating and feeding… so I divorced her #bbcbreakfast.”
