Piers Morgan says three claims made by Baby Reindeer’s ‘Martha’ rang alarm bells

Piers Morgan has claimed that Baby Reindeer’s “real Martha” lied to him “quite a lot” during her tell-all interview.

The outspoken broadcaster welcomed Fiona Harvey onto Piers Morgan Uncensored on Thursday (May 9) for her to “set the record straight” after internet sleuths found tweets online.

It has been claimed the Scottish lawyer is the person comedian Richard Gadd based Baby Reindeer character Martha on. The Netflix show follows a comedian who is stalked by a woman named Martha and is a dramatisation of Gadd’s real experience with an alleged stalker.

It has been a huge hit and fans had been desperate to find out the identity of the real Martha, even though the comic urged people to stop digging. During the interview, Fiona told Piers the show is “horrifying and misogynistic” and she won’t watch it because it’ll make her “sick”.

Speaking on Morgan’s new YouTube channel, she continued: “I haven’t watched any of it. I think I’d be sick. It’s taken over enough of my life. “I find it quite obscene. I’ve had a horrifying, misogynistic. Some of the death threats have been really terrible online. People phoning me up. You know, it’s been absolutely horrendous. I wouldn’t give credence to something like that. And it’s not really my kind of drama.”

Since recording the interview, Piers has reflected in his latest The Sun column. He wrote: “I also found it very strange that she admitted to having up to 6 email addresses, and 4 mobile phones which she ‘used for different people. That’s not normal. She also made a series of emphatic blanket denials about how long she knew Gadd, and how much contact she had with him, that are provably false.

The claim that she only sent him one letter, when he says he has 105, seems especially disingenuous. On balance, I’d say Fiona Harvey lied to me quite a lot in the interview and if her threatened legal action against Netflix and Gadd goes ahead, I suspect it will quickly emerge she did send all the emails, messages, and letters to him.”

Appearing on This Morning last month, Gadd has been open about his real-life stalking ordeal. He said it became “relentless”. “At one stage it was like an assault on all senses, across all media, emails, phone, everything,” he claimed. “It felt like a barrage, a constant 24/7 issue.”

The star had changed details in the TV show, in order to protect the identities of those involved. And he also made it clear that he wanted viewers to stop trying to uncover the identity of his real stalker. “Please don’t speculate on who any of the real life people could be,” he wrote on Instagram. “That’s not the point of the show.” Daily Star has reached out to a representative for Piers for comment.
