BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood interrupts live broadcast to issue apology to co-stars

BBC Breakfast’s weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was forced to halt her forecast on Monday, issuing an apology to her colleagues.

After predicting more wet weather, Sally Nugent ribbed Carol about the lack of summer sunshine: “You’re disappointing me now, Carol. I thought we had summer.”

With a laugh, Carol responded: “Sorry, Sal.” Sally quickly came back with, “I know it’s not your fault,” while Carol vowed: “I’ll go and get rid of it.”

Jon Kay chimed in, suggesting: “Delete it, pretend.” Carol is known for updating her followers with the latest weather deets on social media after her telly segments, as noted by the Express.

On Monday, she wrote on X: “Some heavy thundery downpours around this morning. The Met Office has 2 yellow warnings in force atm. The one across N Ireland expires at 0700. The other across Scotland and N England at 1300.”

She also predicted high temperatures in the southeast, while cooler conditions were expected further north and west after the downpours cleared.

The telly fave also posted: “Temps in the SE quarter of the UK today will widely be in the high 20s/low 30s… possibly reaching 35C somewhere in SE Eng where it will feel humid.”

“Further N and W, when the thundery downpours clear, it will feel more comfortable with temps in the low to mid-20s.”

One of Carol’s followers responded: “Good morning Carol. It’s already feeling very warm down here in the Portsmouth area. I hope the folks in Northern Ireland, Northern England and Scotland get some decent weather today too.”

Another went on: “The noise in SW Scotland is insane. I’ve never heard anything like it! It’s like an ongoing, incredibly loud, rumble. Woke me up 20 mins ago and still going.” (sic)

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
