Selena Gomez has said she is unable to carry children.
The 32-year-old former Disney star has been open about her health issues in the past and has now revealed her heartache when it comes to starting a family. The singer, who has battled lupus, has now revealed she is unable to carry her own children due to her health problems.
Speaking to Vanity Fair for their October edition, she said: “I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”
Selena added: “I’m in a much better place with that.” Despite the heartache, Selena said she found it a “blessing” that she would be able to have children go via surrogacy or adoption, and that it’s made her “thankful” for other women in a similar position who are hoping to become mums one day.
She added: “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine, it’ll be my baby.” Selena is currently with producer Benny Blanco, 36, after being single for five years.
Selena has previously discussed that the most important thing to her would be a family when meeting the right person. Benny admitted earlier this year that having children was the “next goal on the box”.
Responding, Selena said she was “dying laughing” and questioned whether her boyfriend had wanted to share anything else about their relationship. The singer shed light on their romance and revealed she had never “been loved this way,” adding that Benny was her “best friend”.
But they don’t have any worries about marrying one another any time soon, with Selena admitting that there are “no rules” and the couple needs to be their true selves. One thing that she won’t settle for is changing her name. She told the outlet: “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it.”
