Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir reveals the strange way she grieved her son after his death.
Benjamin Keough, Lisa Marie’s son, died by suicide at 27 back in 2020, and Lisa writes that she decided to keep his body on dry ice for two months in her home after he died.
Lisa Marie invited her tattoo artist into the casitas bedroom where his body was kept so that she could get her tattoos to perfectly match his.

In the memoir, titled From Here to the Great Unknown, she writes: “I got so used to him, caring for him and keeping him there. I think it would scare the living f***ing p*ss out of anybody else to have their son there like that. But not me.”

There is no law in the state of California that says you have to bury someone immediately after their death, so Lisa Marie decided to keep Benjamin on dry ice in a seperate bedroom until she decided whether to bury him in Hawaii or Graceland.
Her daughter Riley Keough said that it was really important for her mum to have ample time to say goodbye to him, the same way that she did with her dad, Elvis Presley, who’s body was kept in Graceland after his death.
Lisa Marie wrote: “Having my dad in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him.”

The family only decided to hold a funeral service for Benjamin after they started to get weird vibes from the body.
Riley wrote: “We all got this vibe from my brother that he didn’t want his body in this house anymore. ‘Guys,’ he seemed to be saying, ‘This is getting weird.’ Even my mom said that she could feel him talking to her, saying, ‘This is insane, Mom, what are you doing? What the f***!'”
They held the service in Malibu before burying him in Graceland, with his grandfather Elvis.
Lisa Marie died earlier this year at age 54 following long-term complications from bariatric surgery. A month before her death, Riley and Lisa decided that Riley would complete the memoir once Lisa had gone.
Riley said: “Because my mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued over and dissected. I want to give voice to my mother in a way that eluded her while she was alive.”
