Katy Perry is set to jet off into space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket in a matter of hours, and it seems she’s not feeling nervous about the daring trip
Today is the day Katy Perry is jetting off into space.
The E.T. singer is j oining an all-female crew on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. It’s been a whopping 60 years since a woman went into space without a man, and now Katy is one of six heading out on the mission.
The star, 40, is joining Jeff’s fiancée Lauren Sanchez, TV presenter Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and filmmaker Kieranne Flynn on the rocket. She previously explained why she was heading into space, revealing she wants to “inspire young girls”.
And it seems she’s feeling confident about her decision.
After being brought up in a religious family, and starting her career as a Christian singer, it appears she’s leaving everything in the hands of the powers that be.
She shared a video on social media saying: “Today’s reminder that there is something bigger than me guiding my journey. Love, Feather/Tortoise.
“You know that I’m always looking for little confirmations from the heavens, from my guides, from the angels, from my higher self.
“You know when I ask for it and I am open to it, it’s pretty loud.”
She went on: “So when I was invited to come on this voyage, I looked up at the capsule, and the capsule, on the very front of it, is the outline in the shape of a feather.
“And when I saw that it was like a total confirmation, because my mom has always called me Feather.”
Katy, who is in a relationship with Orlando Bloom, continued: “There’s a lot to digest and we’re almost finished for the day and they show us the capsule, we’ve run simulations in a different capsule.
“And they reveal the name of the capsule and the capsule’s name is Tortoise.
“A wave – just the most energetic wave just shot through my body and I was like ‘What this capsule’s name is Tortoise?’
“My mom calls me two nicknames: Feather and Tortoise. What are the chances that I’m going to space on a rocket in a capsule with my symbol the feather called Tortoise?”
Seemingly predicting the doubters, she promised to share screenshots of her mother calling her both nicknames, which she did.
Katy continued: “There are no coincidences and I’m just so grateful for these confirmations and so grateful that I feel like something bigger than me is steering the ship.”
The American Idol star has appeared in photos ahead of the trip, donning the skintight blue space suits. And it’s safe to say she’s taking the glam up into space.
Katy will be blasting off at 1pm UK time.
