Death, superheroes and vegans: What happened to stars of Clueless 25 years after release

It’s been a whopping 25 years since the cast of Clueless introduced themselves to us, and although we may not have known the actors well back then, they have certainly made a name for themselves.

Cher – a rich high-school student who learned to cope with adolescence and its problems – resonated with many viewers at home, turning the film into a money-making machine that has raked in millions of dollars since its release last century.

The film defined an entire generation, transforming girls’ wardrobes into plaid clothing and styling them with knee-high socks. Clueless’ influence was global.

And despite the monumental success the movie has seen since its release in 1995, the cast’s actors dispersed into different avenues of Hollywood.

But what exactly has the Bronson Alcott High School class of 1995 been up to since they found fame on our TV screens?

From style icon Cher to her Clueless classmates, here’s a breakdown of what the actors have been up to over the past 25 years…

Alicia Silverstone (Cher Horowitz)

Born to British parents on October 4, 1976, the 43-year-old actress initially found mega fame after becoming the staple “it girl” following Clueless.

Since becoming everyone’s teenage idol, Alicia has been involved in various projects consisting of both films and TV shows.

Alicia snapped up a multimillion dollar deal with Columbia pictures, and went on to play BatGirl in the 1997 now widely derided blockbuster Batman and Robin.

After that film bombed, Alicia took the time to pick and choose her projects later down the line. She went on to establish her own production company, and Excess Baggage was the first release under her own name.

The blonde bombshell received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – TV Series Musical or Comedy for her role in the short-lived NBC series Miss Match in 2003.

Most recently, the golden girl starred in American Woman, which did not interfere with her environmental rights activism and combating animal cruelty.

But despite having an ultra-busy acting career, the mum-of-one runs The Kind Life – a lifestyle website dedicated to vegan eating and environmental awareness.

Her philanthropist efforts do not go unnoticed, as she racked up a sizeable amount of awards for her efforts. She is an avid PETA supporter and is involved in helping many charities for such causes around the world.

Stacey Dash (Dionne Marie Davenport)

Rocketing to fame in her role of Cher’s best friend Dionne in Clueless, Stacey was offered a chance to revive her character in a TV spinoff sitcom, which ran from 1996 to 1999.

As her acting career took off, Stacey decided to launch web series Stacey Dash Is Normal.

The ageless actress has since become a regular contributor on Fox News.

And for the younger audience (one that probably wouldn’t remember her character in Clueless), Stacey remained a relevant public figure after starring in Kanye West’s All Falls Down music video.

But it was not all rainbows and roses for the mum-of-two, as Stacey was arrested for alleged domestic violence in September 2019 for reportedly getting into a physical altercation with her fourth husband Jeffrey Marty.

But despite being arrested, Stacey was bailed out by her husband soon after the ordeal and investigators later dropped the case against her.

Brittany Murphy (Tai Frasier)

Brittany found fame after starring as Tai Frasier in Clueless

Brittany rose to fame as the new girl Tai who goes from ‘normal’ to ‘It’ girl at school – with the help of her new pals.

Brittany landed gigantic roles in 8 Mile, Uptown Girls, Just Married and Sin City after her stint on Clueless.

And despite being talented in acting, she even gave her music career a try, Her dance single with Paul Oakenfold reached Number One on Billboard‘s dance chart, proving that Brittany dominated whatever challenge she was faced with.

Although a short-lived career, Brittany proved she had a lot to give to the world.

Paul Rudd (Cher’s ex Josh)

Perhaps the most well-known actor to have come out of Clueless, and boy does that say a lot.

After winning the hearts of teenage girls around the world during his role of Cher’s ex-stepbrother turned love interest, Paul, now 50, managed to continue winning the hearts no matter what project he was involved with.

His Clueless stint led him to star in one of the biggest TV shows in the world – Friends. And his role was a recurring one, as he was there for the official ending of the decade-long sitcom.

After starring as Mike Hannigan in the US sitcom – alongside Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Courteney Cox and David Schwimmer – Paul’s acting career excelled, to say the least.

Securing the lead roles in some of the biggest comedy blockbusters such as Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and This Is 40, the dad-of-two proved that he’s much more than just a pretty face.

His mega stardom saw him be offered a stint on the popular comedy Parks and Recreation, in which he starred as Bobby Newport before landing his biggest role to date.

Paul, who is another Clueless star born to British parents, was given the role of Ant-Man in the Marvel cinematic universe.

The role saw him star in two of his own films and take on pivotal story points in the massive blockbusters Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers Endgame.

Donald Faison (Murray)

Much like his on-screen girlfriend Dionne, Donald was also offered to reprise his role for the Clueless TV spin-off in 1996.

And after the spinoff came to an end in 1999, the now 45-year-old took it step by step to work his way up to securing a prominent TV role.

Elisa was involved in many impressive projects during her acting career, most memorably in A Night at the Roxbury, Beverly Hills, 90210.

Elisa, 49, even got a gig to play Morgan Cavanaugh on Sabrina the Teenage Witch which made her even more well known that she already was.

The gig led him to star in the ABC sitcom Suburgatory from 2011 to 2014, before appearing on series FBI, which is still ongoing.

Breckin Meyer (Travis Birkenstock)

Breckin played Travis Birkenstock in Clueless

It took a while for Breckin to become associated for something other than a pothead skater who falls in love with Tai in Clueless.

He portrayed the character so well, that it was hard for producers and directors to see him as anything else.

That was, of course, until he got his breakthrough role as Josh Parker in 200 comedy film Road Trip.

Breckin proved himself and began receiving waves of offers, which saw him star in Rat Race.

Breckin has had a very successful acting career

And arguably, his most famous gig among Generation Z viewers, was his role in Garfield.

And his stint on Gossip Girl proved to be a highly successful one, as he was part of the cast when the five-year-long series came to an end in 2012.
