Holby City actor Charlie Condou has announced that he’s leaving the BBC One medical drama.
The former Coronation Street star appeared on ITV talk show Lorraine this morning to chat to Scottish presenter Lorraine Kelly about his time as Ben in the hospital series.
Charlie was announced as the new Holby City star singing in September but he has revealed he is leaving the show after just five month.
Host Lorraine, 60, quizzed the actor on whether or not he was going to be sticking around long-term when he made the shock announcement.
Charlie explained: “I’m not – it’s just a stint. Just a little stint.”

However he did admit that the door has been left open for his character to return at a later date.
He continued: “I’ve had conversations with them, you never know, watch this space.”

In tonight’s visit to the BBC drama, Charlie’s alter ego Ben will tell Dom the kiss was “no big deal” and then reveal plans to propose to an oblivious Essie.
Charlie admitted to Lorraine that the latest storyline was even shock to him.
He said: “I think so because Essie’s his best friend and now he knows Ben’s going to propose it makes it all the more awkward.”
The former soap star spoke about how handy the role in Holby was as it is filmed next to his home in London.

Charlie said: “”I loved my time at Coronation Street but being in Manchester was really difficult because my family were in London and i wasn’t getting to see them.
“Holby’s perfect because I can drop my kids off at school and be at Holby in 15 minutes.”
Fingers crossed Ben will return to Holby soon.
Holby City continues on BBC One tonight at 8pm
