Caroline Flack death: Police disclose what happened after they received tragic call

Caroline Flack was found “unresponsive” in her London home by paramedics and police before being pronounced dead at the scene, the Metropolitan Police have revealed.

The Met have said officers were made aware of concerns for the welfare of the former Love Island host, 40, at around 2.31pm on Saturday.

Caroline’s body was discovered after a pal staying with her had popped to the shops.

Her death came hours after the star had been told that the CPS were pressing ahead with a case of assault against the 40-year-old TV favourite.

Caroline stepped down from presenting the current Love Island show after she was alleged to have assaulted Lewis Burton 27, at her then flat in Islington, north London, in December.

A pal had been living with the TV star due to concerns of those close to her about her state of mind.

The friend could not get back into the flat when she returned from the shops. She then called for assistance.

A new video shows ambulances and police cars lining up outside Caroline’s flat in Stoke Newington, in London.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were made aware of concerns for welfare at a residential address in Stoke Newington at 2.31pm on Saturday.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found an unresponsive woman inside the address. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin are aware.

“The death is being treated as non-suspicious.”

The spokeswoman added: “A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”

A lawyer for Flack’s family confirmed that the star took her own life and passed away on February 15 and was found in her flat.

The news of Caroline’s death comes just weeks before she was due to stand trial on March 4 over allegations of assault following an alleged bust up with her 27-year-old former tennis player boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Lewis publicly declared Caroline’s innocence but the Crown Prosecution Service decided to press ahead with the trial.

Caroline’s management have criticised the CPS for pushing ahead with the case, describing her as “vulnerable”.

Broadcast and talent agent Louisa McDonald said in her statement: “We are devastated at the loss of our client and friend Caroline Flack.

“An immensely talented young woman who was at the top of her game professionally and loved by television viewers across the country.

“In recent months Caroline had been under huge pressure because of an ongoing case and potential trial which has been well reported.

“The Crown Prosecution Service pursued this when they knew not only how very vulnerable Caroline was but also that the alleged victim did not support the prosecution and had disputed the CPS version of events.

“The CPS should look at themselves today and how they pursued a show trial that was not only without merit but not in the public interest.

“And ultimately resulted in significant distress to Caroline.

“Our thoughts are with Caroline’s family at this time. Francis Ridley, Money Talent Management.”
