Christine McGuinness in tears while moving home as mum fights cancer in hospital

Christine McGuinness marked a major milestone on Monday, moving into a new family home with her husband Paddy and their three children.

But the Real Housewives of Cheshire star, 32, couldn’t help but wish her mum was with her on the day, having been recently admitted to hospital.

Christine’s mum is suffering from breast cancer and is currently shielding in hospital, with doctors and nurses giving her constant care.

Growing upset on the family’s move-in day, Christine took to Instagram stories to discuss her heartache, wishing her mum was by her side as they unpacked in their “dream home”.

Tearful as she opened up to her followers, she said: “I feel like I’m all over the place today, I feel like I should be so happy we’re moving house and this is literally our dream home that we’ve been building for years.

“I’d give it all to have my mum here, I feel like I’ve got no one to talk to and I feel like I’m all over the place.

“Everyone is unpacking boxes but my head is just not there because my mum should be there with me and she’s still in hospital.”

Christine added: “I haven’t seen her for months, I probably can’t see her until next summer, the kids keep saying ‘I wonder if nanny will come and stay’.”

Describing her mum as her “best friend” in the past, Christine was devastated to learn her mother had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

Since then, she has been busy raising money for breast cancer charities and bravely documenting her experience on social media.

The mum-of-three admitted she felt “overwhelmed” by the move-in day, as they finally unlocked the door to their new front home after five years of rentals.

Top Gear host Paddy was by his wife’s side as they explored the new property in rural Cheshire, which features a spiral staircase and spacious walkways.

While it was a happy day, Christine remembered her childhood on a council estate with her mum, and felt it would be all the more special if she was part of the experience.

She said: “I just want my mum, I want to show mum the house – she hasn’t seen it.

“Cancer is just horrible and covid, it should be the happiest day ever and I don’t want to seem ungrateful because I’m from a council estate and it is quite overwhelming moving into this house.

“I feel so so lucky, but I’d give it all to have my mum.”
