Deep Red and Inferno actress Daria Nicolodi has died at the age of 70, her daughter has confirmed.
The cause of Daria’s death is not yet known.
Daria’s daughter, actress Asia Argento, confirmed the news on Instagram in a touching tribute, written in Italian.
Asia, 45, wrote: “Rest in peace beloved mother.
“Now you can fly free with your great spirit and you won’t have to suffer anymore. I will try to go on for your beloved grandchildren and especially for you who would never want to see me so grieved.”
Asia shared a series of photos of her actress mum on Instagram, including a smouldering black and white shot as well as some family pictures.

She added in the caption: “”Even if without you I miss the ground under my feet, and I feel I have lost my true point of reference.
“I am close to all those who have known and loved her. I will always be your Aria, Daria.”
Italian actress and screenwriter Daria was best known for appearing in a number of films including Deep Red, Inferno, Phenomena and Opera.

She was in a long-term relationship with Italian horror director Dario Argento, appearing in many of his films.
Daria and her partner co-wrote the 1977 film Suspiria and she was all set to star in the movie too, however she picked up an injury before shooting began.
The late actress was born in Florence in 1950 before moving to Italian capital Rome in the 1960s and beginning a career in television.
She then broke into cinema in the 1970s, with her success continuing through until the early 2000s.
Daria had a relationship with sculptor Mario Ceroli in the early 1970s, welcoming a daughter, Anna, in 1973, who tragically died in a car accident in 1994.
She then met Dario Argento in 1974 on the set of Deep Red, before having their daughter Asia in 1975.
The former couple dated until 1985.
