Dancing On Ice star Denise Van Outen has revealed that her partner Eddie Boxshall has put his foot down when it comes to the show’s famous ‘headbanger’ move.
The 46-year-old explained that although Eddie was supportive of her being part of the ITV show and moving her professional skating partner into their home, he’s not comfortable with the dangerous manoeuvre which involves a skater being picked up by the ankle and spun around by their partner.
The skater being swung is raised and lowered with their head inches away from the ice during the risky move.
The International Skating Union (ISU) which governs competitive skating disciplines has banned the ‘headbanger’ but it can be performed in show or exhibition skating.
Just the very thought of the mum-of-one turning upside down face planting herself towards the ice, while in motion, doesn’t well with Eddie.
Denise also agreed she wouldn’t be taking any “risks” given her daughter Betsy, 10, would be watching her perform each week.

However, the West End legend did later confess that had the opportunity arose 10-years-ago, she would have jumped at the chance to perform the move without a care in the world.
Speaking to OK! magazine Denise explained Eddie’s one stipulation when it comes to the skating competition saying: “He actually said, ‘Please don’t do the headbanger.'”
Given Eddie and the TOWIE narrator have been an item for six years, he knows Denise very well and was understandably worried about the close shave with the ice.

The Masked Singer UK contestant added: “Ha! He knows how clumsy I am.
“He’s really supportive and Betsy’s dad, Lee, is brilliant, too. They’ve got everything covered and will look after Betsy when I need it.”
Addressing the headbanger move, she continued: “I just don’t think that will happen – I can’t take the risk. Not with Betsy!”
Not as daring as she used to be, Denise went on: “Ten years ago I would have said yes, but when you’ve got a child you just want to stay safe.”

Now adamant that she won’t be participating in the terrifying move, she wasn’t taking any other chances when it came to the show.
Not wanting to be hindered by Covid-19, she opted to move her pro-partner Matt Evers into the spare room of her Essex family home.
With the UK lockdown looming and ice skating rinks listed to close, ITV confirmed yesterday that contenders will still be able to take to the ice to complete their training.
A spokesman for the channel said: “ITV takes the safety and welfare of everyone involved with its programmes extremely seriously and follows all Government guidelines regarding Covid-19.
“The government has confirmed that TV production can carry on throughout lockdown, to that end we will be hiring the local ice rinks on a private and exclusive hire basis.”
Meanwhile, Emmerdale star Joe Warren Plant’s Dancing on Ice hopes and dreams hang in the balance after an old knee injury left the soap star in pain.
The 18-year-old, took to social media to tell his legion of fans that he’d had to skip training and instead made a worthwhile trip to see a physiotherapist in hope of a quick remedy.
