Emmerdale star gets Covid vaccine and feels 'incredibly lucky to have had it'

An Emmerdale star who received the coronavirus vaccine says he feels “incredibly lucky” to have had the chance to get the jab.

Patrick Mower, 82, who has played the character of Rodney Blackstock since 2000 received his vaccine this week.

A picture of him posing after getting the jab was shared on Lincolnshire’s NHS Twitter account.

According to the Tweet, he said: “Getting my Covid vaccination was incredibly simple and painless. I feel incredibly lucky to have had it and would like to thank all the wonderful NHS staff for making it happen.”

The actor was one of the first in the UK to receive the jab as the country begins its mass roll-out – targeting over 80s first, reports Digital Spy.

Yesterday, Emmerdale fans predicted a shooting tragedy in the village after Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) stalked around Home Farm’s estate with a loaded gun, while being drunk.

Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln) left him in charge of Home Farm while he went away, and Mack found a key to the gun cupboard.

As he swanned around the country home, Mack got dressed up in a fur coat and swigged on bottles of booze before going out onto the grounds with the gun.

Other celebs who have received the Covid jab this week include Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith and X-Men actor Sir Ian McKellen, who were some of the first celebrities to have received the Covid-19 jab.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was first administered in the UK last week, with 90-year-old Margaret Keenan being the first person to receive it.
