Emmerdale star Max Parker's sexuality 'shame' before finding love with co-star

Emmerdale star Max Parker who plays chef Luke Posner has spoken for the first time about his relationship with on-screen brother, Kris Mochrie.

The Manchester-born actor, 28, admitted he was ready to come out following months of speculation surrounding their relationship.

Max and Kris, 31, have now moved into a swanky Manchester penthouse together and have also documented their relationship on social media – including a luxury holiday to Dubai.

Speaking about coming out, Max told Attitude that he first spoke about his sexuality aged 18 to his friends, telling them he was bisexual.

Despite being so open with his peers, Max was left frustrated when they informed him it was “just a phase”.

However, after accepting his sexuality and “something changed” in his mind, Max opened up to his parents about being gay.

Max first told people about being gay around the ages of 26-27 after splitting up with a long term girlfriend.

Now, after opening up to his friends and family, Max spoke about finding love again.

“He was filming his last day on set and he was actually really late because of traffic, so they brought me in early and when I was getting on the bus to go back to the village he ran past me,

“And was like ‘Hi I’m Kris, nice to meet you, I play your brother’,” he said of his first encounter with Kris.

“I didn’t know he was gay but I remember thinking he’s very handsome,” he continued

While on the search for love, Max turned his attention to online dating via the popular app, Tinder.

“I thought ‘I’ve never done Tinder so I’ll have a go’, so I went on Tinder and I saw him pop up, and I was like ‘OK this is a sign’ – so I made the first move by sending a message on Instagram.”

The actor admitted that he was excited for the next chapter in his life after speaking about his journey to acceptance.

Max revealed that he felt “shame” as a child in 1990s Manchester after realising he was gay.

He later admitted that he was left red-faced when his dad discovered “some things” on the family computer.
