GMB's Charlotte Hawkins moans she has to wake up at 2:45am on New Year's Day

Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins may be celebrating the end of 2020 on Thursday but she’s admitting her 2021 isn’t going to start off in an ideal manner.

The ITV host explained during today’s show that she will have to get up at the crack of dawn in order to make it into the ITV studio.

Charlotte, 45, is due to wake up the nation at 6am on New Year’s Day alongside co-host Sean Fletcher.

The duo have been standing in for usual hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid as they take a break from GMB over the festive period.

Kicking off the final Good Morning Britain of the year, Sean and Charlotte explained how New Year’s Eve will be very different for everyone due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday afternoon Health Secretary Matt Hancock confirmed that millions more people will welcome in 2021 in Tier 4.

The decision was made as the UK battles to grapple control the new mutant strain of the virus.

Speaking frankly about the situation, Charlotte said: “Obviously it’s going to be a different New Year’s Eve celebration for everybody, isn’t it?

“Very different from what we’re used to with lots of parties and everything.

“We’ve been told to stay indoors, stay with our households.”

Agreeing, Sean went on to add he will simply sat at home with his two children.

“I don’t normally do a big thing on New Year’s Eve and I will be doing pretty much the same, I’ll throw a small thing just the family,” he continued.

“I’ll be staying in and I know lots of people who’d normally go out.

“My daughter’s gonna be 23 next year and my son is 17, that’s the time you normally go out. They’re gonna be with their parents! What a drab New Year’s Eve for them.”

Charlotte added: “Well I’ll be lucky if I make it ’til midnight, I think, because I’m getting up at 2:45am in the morning.

“That’s quite a long day!

“It’s worth celebrating, we want to put this year behind us and move on to next year.”
