Holly Willoughby was forced to miss some of her This Morning duty last week after two of her children became ill and had to get tested for coronavirus.

The 39-year-old ITV star took two days off work and was also tested despite having no symptoms.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to update her millions of followers on her absence, Holly penned: “Just wanted to say thank you for all your kind messages.. over the last few days two of our children were unwell and had symptoms of Covid.

“In line with government guidelines we wee waiting for results of the tests before I could return to work, couple that with just wanting to look after two poorly children, it meant having two days away from This Morning.

The reasons for her absence, as she said in her statement, wasn’t fully explained on either show.

Co-host Phillip simply said: “Holly’s having a day off, she’s back on on Monday.”

As usual Friday hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford took care of of the last show of the week.

The Dancing On Ice presenter shares children Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and Chester, five, with producer husband Dan Baldwin.

It comes after Holly and her family were forced to leave their holiday to Portugal in the summer in order to isolate so she could be back ready to host the ITV show in September.

The family had planned to spend seven weeks in the Spanish sunshine, however, they were forced to shave two weeks off the summer holiday when travel restrictions changed at the last minute.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
