I'm a Celeb new campmate Ruthie Henshall 'regularly speaks to ghosts'

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! new campmate Ruthie Henshall regularly speaks to ghosts.

The theatre legend, 53, is set to join the spirits who are said to live at the show’s new home at Gwrych Castle.

Ruthie said: “Whenever I finish a theatre show, after it has ended and everybody has left, I go onto the stage with the ghost light on and thank the theatre and all the ghosts for having me. It is the last thing I do. It’s one of my traditions.

“I believe in them. I think I saw a ghost when I was younger. There has to be something going on. There are certain things you can’t explain. I would like to think our loved ones are still with us.”

Ruthie fears she will come face to face with a ghost while at the castle in north Wales.

She added: “I don’t know whether I’d frighten myself to death and get myself into a state.”

Russell Watson, who will go into the castle with Ruthie in tonight’s show, is also worried about seeing a ghost.

The opera singer, 53, said: “I’m not great with stuff like that. I am a bit of a scaredy cat. I’m not a big fan of the dark. When I walk into a room the first thing I’m reaching for is the light. I won’t just wander around a room aimlessly in the dark!
“But I’d like to see a ghost just to confirm that there is something out there.”

The new arrivals are gearing up to take on horror trials during their time on the show.

Ruthie said: “I always go into everything thinking I will give it 100%. But you never know until you get there what is going to push your buttons.”

Russell added: “I’ve always challenged myself. You don’t get from the factory floor of a Salford workshop to being the best-selling classical artist in the UK without being a driven lunatic.

“I’ve always been driven and when I take a challenge on, I grasp it with both hands. I’m not going in there to sit back and disappear into the background.”
