I'm A Celeb's Ant and Dec 'paralysed with fear' after taking on Bushtucker Trial

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are left covered in slime and shaken to their boots after they braved three terrifying Bushtucker Trials.

The gob-smacking scenes are shown as part of a special I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! show to mark the start of its 20th series.

Ant & Dec take on the trials after Joel Dommett challenged them during last year’s jungle high jinks. Both of them
reluctantly agreed to take part.

But on arriving to perform the tasks, Dec admitted: “I’m paralysed with fear.”

Ant joked: “I feel this is payback. We’ve got away with it for so long that they’re just going to throw everything at us.”

Joel announced the first trial would be Catch A Falling Star. To win stars for camp they would have to catch them as they dropped from overhead.

With Ant in position, the trap door above him opened as a star fell in a huge dollop of smelly green slime.

Dec laughed hysterically. But Ant quickly reminded him: “This will be so much better when I watch you do it.”

Dec said: “Oh, I forgot about that.”

Next was Face Your Fears. Dec’s head was placed in a see-through helmet which had giant spiders poured in.

Once Dec had completed the trial it was Ant’s turn. Joel asked him: “What wouldn’t you like to have in your
helmet?” Ant replied: “Snakes.”

Moments later the rangers entered the clearing carrying six large snakes to place into his helmet.

The final trial was an eating trial. On the menu for Ant were a witchetty grub, blended vomit fruit and a fish eye. Dec was served a fermented duck egg, blended cockroaches and a pig’s penis.

Stars on this year’s show include Vernon Kay, Corrie actress Beverley Callard and the bookies’ early favourite to win, Olympic hero Sir Mo Farah. The main show starts in a few weeks.

For the first time in the show’s history, it will be filmed at a castle in North Wales instead of the Australian jungle.

The latest information from the Welsh Government indicates that production could go ahead on I’m a Celebrity season 20 despite the two-week “circuit break” lockdown the country is currently under.

I’m a Celebrity will be filmed at Gwrych Castle in North Wales and the castle’s trust said in a tweet: “Following the announcement today from the First Minister, the overriding message is that filming CAN continue in Wales providing related activity cannot be undertaken from home, and there is full compliance with Welsh law.

“We cannot wait to see I’m A Celebrity on our screens!”

I’m a Celebrity would not be affected by the month-long lockdown which goes into effect in England from November 5.

The line-up for the 2020 series hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but there have been lots of rumours doing the rounds. Last week, a number of celebrities were spotted pulling up to what was thought to be a promotional photoshoot for the series.

Eight stars – who it is alleged will feature on this year’s show – were seen together last week.

EastEnders star Jessica Plummer, Strictly’s AJ Pritchard and presenter Victoria Derbyshire were seen at the photo-call in North London with TV presenter Vernon Kay.

Other famous faces at the event in Kensal Green included tenor Russell Watson, Paralympian Hollie Arnold, actress Ruthie Henshall, and actress Beverley Callard.

There are expected to be 10 stars on the show this year despite only eight being seen at the shoot, according to The Sun.

I’m A Celebrity…A Jungle Story will be screened on Sunday at 8.10pm on ITV
