I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Shane Richie proved he does have a phobia as he took part in the latest Bushtucker Trial.
The former soap star looks terrified as he tackles The Cruel Jewels on Tuesday night’s episode of the popular series.
A clip released by ITV shows the EastEnders actor squirming in a seat as he asks hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly: “Ok here I go, oh what’s in here lads?”
With his head stuck through a hole, a member of the crew pulls away the curtain to reveal just where Shane’s head really is.
Upon hearing the word “spiders”, Shane recoils in horror and screams as he realises just how close he is to the creatures.
“Two hundred spiders,” Dec adds, as Shane shouts: “God no!” before attempting to remove the yellow stars using only his tongue.
The 56-year-old is clearly scared as he tries to unscrew the stars as quickly as he can and asks: “Where are they? Is there some behind me?”
Ant cheekily replies: “They’re everywhere in there,” before Dec says: “Two hundred of them.”
“How many?!” Shane replies, before adding: “It’s Arachnophobia innit!”
“This is a good stat to tell them when you get back to camp, two hundred spiders,” Dec then says, before Shane shouts back: “You don’t have to keep reminding me, Dec!”
Shane’s trial comes after he and his fellow celeb Vernon Kay were dubbed as “snakes” and “backstabbers” following a conversation they had on Monday night about Jessica Plummer.
After Jessica only managed to win six stars alongside AJ Pritchard in the Bushtucker Trial, Shane and Vernon were not happy and took off privately in the camp to have a little moan about their campmates.
Shane said how he predicted Jessica would be taking part in the next trial after nabbing just one star.
TV presenter Vernon replied: “AJ said she was petrified.”
Shane then said: “Jessica and Jordan, cut from the same cloth aren’t they…” as Vernon continued: “But it’s like… why?”
Agreeing, Shane said: “I say this every year I watch it. Why’d you come and do it? You know what’s going to happen.”
Viewers were not impressed with their comments and took to Twitter to slam them.
I’m A Celeb airs tonight at 9pm on ITV
