Good Morning Britain ‘s Kate Garraway is said to be eaten alive by the constant uncertainty her husband Derek Draper will ever be able to leave hospital after battling long Covid.
Derek, 53, was hospitalised in March with coronavirus before being put into a medically induced coma to help him fight the virus.
While he is now Covid free, the illness has wreaked havoc on his body and internal organs.
Despite Kate slowing returning to work on GMB, her close friend weather presenter Clare Nasir has admitted she’s constantly on tenterhooks about Derek’s health.
Clare, 5, said: “Kate is a warrior and she’ll do what she has to do to get through this.

“This is someone who isn’t fazed by interviewing the Prime Minister or victims of child abuse, because she can relate to everybody and has the mental capacity to cope.
“She’s incredibly resilient. Some people would’ve crumbled by now, but this is going to make her stronger.”
She added to Closer magazine: “Her priority is to keep her kids’ lives as normal as possible.
“The uncertainty eats her alive, but she doesn’t want that to transition to them.

“She’s doing an amazing job of keeping them buoyant and positive.
“They’re doing amazingly well – they all have that inner Garraway strength, which has sustained Kate over so many months.”
Last month Daily Star Online revealed how Kate had been dealt fresh heartbreak after new lockdown rules put an end to any possibility Derek’s parents can see him before Christmas – regardless of if he was surprisingly discharged from hospital or not.
A source said: “Kate was prepared for this to happen but it’s still a blow.

“Derek’s parents have been unable to see him for a long long time and now any chance they will be able to before Christmas has all but vanished.
“Even if he was able to come out of hospital they live in Lancashire which has been placed until Tier 3 lockdown.
“They are not allowed to travel out of the nearby area so visiting Kate and Derek’s family home in London would be out of the question – especially as they themselves are in a risk category”.
A rep for Kate Garraway declined to comment when contacted by Daily Star Online.
