Kathy Griffin investigated on claims she was 'planning to assassinate Trump'

Kathy Griffin has revealed she was once investigated by the FBI following claims she planned to assassinate President Donald Trump.

The American comedian was speaking to ITV’s Tom Bradby following the US Presidential election when she dropped the almighty bombshell.

Kathy, 60, was almost charged for “crimes of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States,” after posing with a picture of Donald Trump’s head covered in tomato ketchup on May 30, 2017.

The famous redhead is no stranger to speaking out against Donald Trump, often using him as the butt of her comedy routines on stage as well as on social media.

Kathy famously posed with a Donald Trump mask smeared in ketchup – which was made to look like fake blood

“My photo was manipulated within twelve hours, worldwide and I was labelled a jihadist,” she told the veteran political correspondent.

She added: “People for real think that I eat babies and Satan’s blood with Hillary Clinton and Tom Hanks in a basement, sounds funny at first but the amount of conspiracy theories that people are believing,

“Yet when you unravel it for them and show them why bad actors would be manipulated with this information, they choose to ignore it.”

Griffin later went on to accuse Donald Trump and his legion of followers as a “cult”.

Later in her interview, she went on to say the President was “corrupt,” before also accusing his children of corruption.

The Emmy Award-winning star previously revealed that her own mother once believed she was part of a terrorist organisation.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, the firey funny woman was asked by the presenter: “Did anyone really believe you were part of ISIS?”

She said: “Yes, my own mother – she wanted me to join a different club, as she said because she watches Fox News and she thought it was real.”

“They [the FBI] were considering very seriously charging me with the crime of conspiracy to assassinate the president of the United States,” she added.

Griffin was also the target of a terrorist attack in 2018 after it was revealed she was placed on the “MAGA bomber” list by Cesar Sayoc.

Sayoc, from Florida, sent 16 devices to those who had criticised Donald Trump as well as known Democratic voters.
