Laura Whitmore has confirmed she tragically found out about the death of Love Island host Caroline Flack from social media.
The MTV star, who is dating Love Island voiceover Iain Stirling, made the revelation when she bravely hosted her BBC Radio 5 Live show on Sunday morning.
Laura, 34, said she wanted to push ahead and host the show as that is what Caroline would have wanted.
She also encouraged anyone who feels they need help to reach out to the BBC Action Line or to contact The Samaritans.
Speaking shortly after 10am, Laura said: “I found out from Twitter before I found out from someone else.

“You don’t know whether it’s true or fake news or not.
“I have seen things in the past which aren’t true and which are written.”
Laura and Caroline were close friends after meeting at V Festival a decade ago.
Fighting back tears, the brave star continued: “Anyone who knew Caroline knew she was vivacious, loving and had a passion for life which is why none of this makes sense.

“Caroline loved dancing and Angels by Robbie Williams reminds me of her because she danced to it on Strictly.
“Caroline loved music, we shared many a dance floor at festivals.
“She loved to laugh and had the most infectious chuckle.
“She also had many struggles. I am not going to pretend she was perfect but she lived every mistake publicly.”
Calling for everyone to think before they speak or type, Laura said: “I want to use my platform as it has gone too far.

“Your words affect people. I would like to thank ITV and BBC for the support that I have had and those who supported my decision to come in today as I thought it was the right thing to do.
“To my boyfriend, who is the kindest man I know, and my whole Love Island family who are in mourning of their colleague and friend.
“I love you. To everyone, be kind in what you say.”
The former MTV host heartbreakingly added: “Caroline, I am so sad for you and your family.
“I am angry that you saw this as your only option as I know how much love and support you had. I am sorry you didn’t know that.
“I am not sure when, but I know I will see you on a dance floor again, but I hope that you are at peace and know that you are loved.”
