The Apprentice legend Lord Alan Sugar has confirmed the passing of his sister ‘from Covid’ – tragically just two weeks after his brother also died.
Taking to Twitter, Lord Sugar, 73, tweeted: “My eldest sister Shirley passed away today at the age of 88 she had been sick for a while but I guess covid got her in the end to join our brother Derek who passed 2 weeks ago.”
He signed off the post: “”RIP SHIRL.”
Over 71,000 have now died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test in the UK.
The business tycoon’s brother Derek died on December 15.
While Derek suffered from underlying health problems coronavirus is believed to have complicated the situation.

Posting on Twitter, Lord Sugar said: “Today I lost my long-suffering brother Derek, another victim of Covid which added to his underlying health issues.
“He was a lifetime, passionate Spurs supporter. I never forget my sister-in-law joking with me, thanking me for buying him the club.
“A sad day for us all in the family.”
Lord Sugar has spent a large time of 2020 away from the UK at his home in Florida.
He previously hit out at the UK public for not following the government’s rules to help try and stop the curb of Covid-19.
Hitting out, he said: “It’s the irresponsible people out there who are not paying attention to the rules.
Keen not to be seen as a someone who simply hits out from his ivory tower, Lord Sugar donates his fee for appearing on The Apprentice to charity.
The star, who is said to be worth a staggering £1.21 billion, donates his fee to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List, he is the 123rd richest person in the UK.
Lord Sugar made his money from computer company Amstrad which was estimated to be worth £1.2billion at the hight of it’s success.
In 2007 he sold it to BSkyB for £125million.
