Love as Laughter singer Sam Jayne dies at 46 after going missing

Love as Laughter singer Sam Jayne has died, it has been confirmed.

The band’s frontman was just 46-years-old and had been missing for a number of days.

A statement from the band shared online read: “The search for Sam Jayne has concluded and our hearts are broken.

“Our dear Sam is no longer with us but his memory and impact will endure. Please respect the privacy of the family at this time.

“More information will become shared as it becomes known. please be patient while we mourn this loss. (sic)”

Reports by Pitchfork claim police found Jayne in his car.

In the 1990s, Jayne helped found the band Lync with James Bertram and Dave Schneider.

In 1994 they released These Are Not Fall Colours.

Four years later they released a compilation album called Remembering the Fireballs (Part 8).

The record consisted of unreleased tracks before they split.

After Lync parted ways Jayne formed Love as Laughter.

The band released a string of records throughout their time together.

Their latest album was 2008’s Holy.

Most recently they released two singles in 2012 and 2015.

Paying tribute to the late star, Fleet Foxes member Robin Pecknold took to social media to pen a personal open letter to the singer.

Pecknold wrote: “Rest In Peace, Sam. You didn’t know it but you were an elusive and inspiring hero to me and you touched so many of the lives of the people we love.

“You were Sam f******* Jayne. F***.”

He continued: “Sam was a legend among the friends I made at my first real job, at the Cha Cha kitchen.

“He’d show up at random with so much life in his eyes, flashing that wonderful knowing grin of his.

“The best stories people would tell on the job about their lives in Seattle at the time always involved Sam in one way or another.”
