The BBC One programme Mrs Brown’s Boys didn’t exactly receive a warm reception after the Christmas special aired yesterday.
In the festive episode, Finglas and Mrs Brown look at life in lockdown as they talk coping mechanisms, along with a Radio Times competition to perform the Queens speech.
Viewers of the show had high expectations with the run-down seemingly touching on everyday issues, with many hoping that the show would provide some light humour at a time when it was most needed.
However, from the tweets that have since flood Twitter, it appears Irish writer Brendan O’Carroll may have missed the mark as the special episode was branded as a “pile of s***e” and “boring”.

One viewer asked: “How is this s***e still on TV ffs? #MrsBrownsBoys.”
Another fumed: “#MrsBrownsBoys Thank f**k I don’t have a television anymore! Rory Cowan (who played Rory the hairdresser) quit the show ‘cos he said it was getting boring and the same all the time.
“Yup, every episode IS the same. It was funny when it first came out, but now, I agree with Rory…”

A third joked: “The BBC should give you a free TV licence for watching this s***e. #MrsBrownsBoys.”
While a forth person was not surprised one bit that Christmas special hadn’t lived up to expectation.
They added: “It seems the common consensus is that #MrsBrownsBoys #ChristmasSpecial was a pile of s***e. The shocking thing is that some folk expected it not to be.”

Recently reports surfaced to suggest there were problems in the Mrs Brown’s Boys camp and the show was rocked as Rory Cowan left the programme.
It was claimed that Rory no longer speaks to the cast, although he had suggested in an interview with the Irish Mirror that things between him and Brendan were amicable.
When speaking about his reasons to exit, he told the publication: “I got tired of it, I haven’t been happy for the last two years working there.
“There was no row with Brendan, there was no dispute over money or anything, in fact quite the opposite, I got so well paid that it enabled me to be able to leave, I didn’t need to stay.”
