Netflix fans have been left shocked after tuning into new series Bridgerton and being met with two sex scenes in the first 20 minutes of episode one.
The US period drama, which stars Ruth Gemmell, Jonathan Bailey and Luke Newton, landed on the streaming service on December 25 – and it’s already the second most popular show in the UK.
The opening episode, which is entitled Diamond of the First Water, features a couple of rather racy scenes in the opening moments.
It sees Bailey’s character, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, strip off to romp with singer Siena twice – once against a tree, and once backstage at the opera.

Fans of the show were quick to take to Twitter after tuning in, and couldn’t believe their eyes.
“All they do is have sex on this show,” one person tweeted, along with the series’ hashtag.
Another added: “I read the books but I don’t remember this much sex,” while a third said they “weren’t expecting that much sex” from the period drama.
One more viewer tweeted: “This series has dope sex scenes. Also I should warn it has a lot of sex.”
However, one person wasn’t very impressed and posted: “Unpopular opinion: there was too much sex in Bridgerton.
“I’m obviously a traditional period drama gal at heart (I’ll still be first in the queue to watch season two if there is one).”
Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling books of the same name, and follows the Bridgerton family in regency London as they’re targeted by an anonymous society writer called Lady Whistledown.

The sisters are desperate to marry a “good husband” but are watched and reported on by the mysterious writer and her “scandal sheet”.
Described as a mixture of Jane Austen and Gossip Girl, it seems Bridgerton will captivate fans of everything from Downton Abbey to teen dramas.
Much like Kristen Bell, who voiced Gossip Girl, actress Julie Andrews will not appear in the show and will just lend her vocal talents instead as she voices Lady Whistledown.
The 85-year-old Hollywood icon is, of course, best known for playing Mary Poppins, for which she won an Oscar for, and Maria von Trapp in classic musical The Sound of Music, with her portrayal earning her a Golden Globe award.
Julie has enjoyed a very successful career – though tragically lost her singing voice after a botched operation on her vocal cords to remove nodules in the late 1990s.
