Paul McCartney, 78, shows off man bun as he holidays with wife in St Barts

Sir Paul McCartney looks to be trying to keep up with the youth of today while he holidays in the Caribbean with his wife.

The 78-year-old and his other half, Nancy Shevell, 61, have headed to the glorious destination of St Barts for their annual winter trip.

And The Beatles legend was certainly in the holiday spirit, as he whipped his shirt off to catch some sun, while pulling some of his greying hair into a top-knot man bun style.

The musician was photographed stood with wife Nancy enjoying some time alone away from the worries of the real world back home.

Paul was pictured in black and white print swimming shorts, while his spouse looked elegant in a flowing pink cotton cover-up, while bikini straps could be seen underneath.

She finished off her chic ensemble with a small sun hat and oversized black sunglasses.

Her long brunette locks were held back with a chunky hair clip, which was revealed as she turned her back to the camera.

Sir Paul appeared to be taking a photo on his phone – or maybe checking out the latest Tier announcements in the UK – as he stood at a barrier looking out into the distance.

The rocker has sported slightly longer hair in recent years, though was known for neat and tidy near-bowl cuts back in the 1960s and Beatles heyday.

But he tied the front portion of his hair which usually fall down onto his face up and away, which is sure to have been more comfortable in the blazing heat.

After putting his phone away, Paul took Nancy in his arms for a loving hug as they wandered around their decking.

Despite being on holiday, the British Icon released an album – McCartney III – this week.

He wrote and recorded the new release during lockdown earlier this year – though he admitted he “didn’t realise” what he was working on at the time.

He told actor Idris Elba in a chat for the BBC: “[In] lockdown everyone cleaned out their cupboards and did all the stuff they’d been meaning to get around to. So [making an album] was my equivalent.

“I wasn’t trying to make an album. So I had these 10 songs, I thought, ‘What am I going to do with these?’ It was just the 10 as I didn’t know I was making an album.”

While in lockdown earlier in the year, Paul stayed in the countryside with his daughter Mary and her children.

He said he was “really lucky” as he was still able to go to the studio and work while being locked-down with his family.

“It was a very safe place,” he added. “We were distanced, we were always being very careful.

“I was on holiday in the beginning of the year and then lockdown hit, Covid hit, so I came back and I was locked down in the country.”

But it seems Sir Paul has no desire to slow down and is banking on vaccines to “get us out of this”.

He said on BBC Radio 4’s Today: “I will [take the vaccine], and I’d like to encourage people to get it too.

“There used to be anti-vaccine people, that was OK, that was their choice, but with the internet now, these things really take hold and so you do get these people who won’t take it.”
