Rapper Slowthai has been scrapped as Record Store Day’s ambassador and bosses have banned him from the company’s next event.
The 25-year-old British rapper has been dropped from the campaign following his “shameful” behaviour at the NME 2020 Awards on Wednesday night where he has been accused of leering at comedian Katherine Ryan.
He made a string of lewd comments at Katherine, the rapper then jumped into the crowd and lunged at one fan who called him a “misogynist”.
Slowthai jumped into the crowd just moments after he was awarded Hero Of The Year at the highly anticipated music awards.

Speaking to Metro, Record Store Day bosses said that following the accusations and his behaviour it does not “reflect their values”.
They told the publication: “The individual record shops who organise Record Store Day have spoken this morning and have unanimously agreed that Slowthai’s behaviour and statements do not reflect their values or those of Record Store Day.
“On that basis, we have withdrawn our invitation for Slowthai to be this year’s Record Store Day ambassador and he will not be appearing at our 5 March event.”

Following the accusations, Slowthai, real name Tyron Kaymone Frampton, later went on to tweet that his actions were “shameful” and asked NME to apologise to Katherine for his comments.
Denying accusations of sexual harassment, the Deal Wiv It star said: “She can tell you herself. She’s actually explained.
“It’s all there. You can make your judgement of what you make your judgement.”

He later went on to deny throwing a glass at a fan in the audience, saying: “[The fan] chucked something at me, I didn’t chuck a glass at anybody, the glass went to the floor.”
Slowthai took to Twitter saying: “NME please forward my award to Katherine Ryan for she is the hero of the year.
“What started as a joke between us escalated to a point of shameful actions on my part.
“I want to unreservedly apologise, there is no excuse and I am sorry. I am not a hero.”
Ryan replied to Slowthai and tweeted: “I knew you were joking and congratulations on your very award-worthy album! I hope you know that a bad day on social media passes so quickly. Everything will be better tomorrow. Xx”
