Shane Richie’s son Shane Jr, 31, who has been known as Shane Nolan since 2017, swerved a question from an intrigued follower about whether he would change his surname to show his support to his dad.
Shane Jr, who has been very vocal in showing his support for Shane, 56, during his time on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, was quizzed about reports he may change his surname by a social media fan.
The supporter asked: “Potentially sensitive, but genuine intrigue… I’m sure when Shane went into #IAC you changed your name back to Richie. What’s the deal? @realshanerichie Is being AMAZING! He’s a true instigator in helping them all have a ball.”
Shane Jr responded but didn’t fully answer the question.
He said: “Not sensitive at all. Appreciate the question,” followed by a red love heart emoji.
Shane Jr then appeared to have a change of heart and decided to address the question directly.
He tweeted: “No I didn’t, it was just a headline in a paper that everyone believed but it’s cool x.”
Shane Jr changed his name from Richie to Nolan when mum Coleen appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, which she went on to win.
He told her Loose Women colleagues at the time: “I’m going to change my name to Shane Nolan to support my mum.”
Shane and Coleen share sons Shane Jr, 31, and Jake, 29, from their nine-year marriage, which saw them split amid reports Shane had been unfaithful.
Coleen recently shared that she and Shane now get on well, but she did joke that she would be voting for him to do all of the Bushtucker Trials.
She told OK!: “I said to him, ‘I’m going to vote for you to do every trial,’ and he said, ‘Well I’ll be able to do the eating trial because I put up with your cooking for years!’
“I couldn’t even argue because it’s very true.”
