Simon Cowell sports huge spinal scar undergoing emergency surgery

Simon Cowell has been seen for the first time with a large scar down his spine after nudging emergency surgery earlier this year.

The X Factor mogul was left hospitalised after falling off his electric bike while at his sprawling home in Malibu, California.

In new images from his winter break to Barbados, Simon, 61, could be seen stripped down to a pair of shorts as he enjoyed a day at sea on a private boat.

Looking trim, the businessman appeared in good form as he basked in the sun.

Hinting at his difficult 2020, Simon’s surgical scar runs down the length of his spin.

According to reports the dad-of-one was lucky not to be paralysed by the accident.

A friend of Simon’s said in October: “He definitely no longer feels invincible and this has been a wake up for him about his health and lifestyle.

“He was nearly paralysed and feels lucky to be recovering at all.”

Sources added to The Daily Mail that the fall has made Cowell reevaluate his life.

A source told the publication: “The fall was of life-changing seriousness.

“Some in his circle think it might even make him think again about making a commitment of marriage to Lauren. ‘Never say never’.”

Simon had initially hoped to be recovered enough for the Britain’s Got Talent live finals in the winter, though his doctor advised against traveling back to the UK and told him to instead focus on his recovery.

Pals told The Mirror he was in “ridiculous amounts of pain” after the horror fall.

Speaking in August an unnamed friend told The Mirror: “I spoke to him before the surgery and he was in incredible, ridiculous amounts of pain and also in shock. His back was broke in several places, but he is actually very lucky.

“He fell flat on his back and the doctors say the impact missed his spinal cord by about a centimetre and it could have been a lot, lot more serious.

“He was in surgery for six hours and they had to put a metal rod in his back and fix a number of things. He is recovering in hospital now and we expect him to be there for a few days and then he will take things from there.

“It is too early to say when he will be back on TV.”
