Strictly Come Dancing's HRVY issued strict warning by bosses over Covid slip-up

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 contestant HRVY was issued with a stern putdown by BBC bosses after he and Maisie Smith broke Covid rules.

The dancing duo, 21, and 19 respectively, were photographed on November 13 walking into the studio not observing the two-metres social distancing rule and not wearing masks.

Holding his hands up to the error, YouTuber HRVY said: “It was me and a couple of other pros going from one studio to the next studio outside.

“Obviously we try our best to socially distance when we are walking around the studios and outside, but obviously when you are walking and talking you don’t even realise.

“But no one touched each other. I just think we were maybe slightly closer than two metres while we were talking.

“But also the cameras, when you get a picture taken of you it can make you look a lot closer than you actually are.”

HRVY, whose real name is Harvey Cantwell, added: “But the BBC told us off and everything is all good and everyone is trying their best to maintain all the rules and regulation. We are all good. We are all OK.”

On Saturday night HRVY wowed with an upbeat performance, which featured multiple lifts of his dancing partner Janette Manrara.

Impressing the judges, HRVY pulled off a first in Strictly history by bagging himself three 10s and a perfect score.

It is the first time in the BBC One show’s history that a contestant has got a full house from the judges in week six.

Beaming, co-host Claudia Winkleman said: “I have to tell you there has never been a perfect score in week six in history.

“Janette, that is your first perfect 10.”

Earlier this month Strictly was rocked by a Covid scare after professional dancer Katya Jones tested positive for the virus.

As a result, both she and her dancing partner Nicola Adams had to bow out of the competition early despite the Olympian testing negative.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday at 7.25pm on BBC One
