Super Bowl halftime show headliner Shakira has been accused of allegedly underpaying her tax by Spanish officials.
Reports in Spanish publication Esplugues De Llobregat claim Spanish treasury officials have confirmed the Hips Don’t Lie singer allegedly under paid tax by £12.2 million in Spain between 2012 and 2014.
In 2019, Shakira is reported to have appeared in court to testify over allegations she avoided €14.5 million in taxes.
At the time the superstar is understood to have argued that she was up-to-date with her taxes, had given her full cooperation to the investigation and had no outstanding debts with tax authorities.

Prosecutors argued Shakira had deliberately avoided taxes by claiming to live in the Bahamas when she was in fact a resident in Catalonia.
Shakira’s spokesman has been contacted by Daily Star Online for comment and clarification on the matter.
In February 2018, it was repaired by local Spanish media that Shakira had paid the €14.5 million to authorities to settle the debt.

A statement released at the time added that Shakira had appeared in court to “help clarify the facts over her tax situation in Spain”.
It went on to argue the singer “had always met her tax obligations in every country where she had worked and did not own taxes to the Spanish state”.
The statement continued: “As soon as she [Shakira] learned how much she owed the Spanish tax authorities – and before a complaint was filed – Shakira paid the full amount.’
