Tipping Point fans were left confused on Wednesday after the machine dropped multiple counters over the Tipping Point in between questions.
During the final round, Ben Shephard was asking contestant Athena a string of questions, which she failed to get correct.
However, in a positive move for the hopeful, the machine started to move counters over the line baffling both Ben and Athena.
Laughing, Athena said: “Well, the machine like she at least.”
After the machine did it again, Ben laughed: “The machine got bored.”
Fans logged into social media to question what was happening.
One fan tweeted: “Where are these random counters coming from?”
Another joked: “Is the magnet man just feeling sorry for her? #TippingPoint.”
A third continued: “#tippingpoint Christ even the machine is taking pity on her.”
Meanwhile, a fourth continued: “The machine got bored. Well played Ben.”
A fifth hit out: “#TippingPoint. ‘The machine’s got bored’. So have we Ben, so have we.”
Despite the playful tweets, there is no evidence in the slightest that producers or a “man with a magnet” can alter the outcome.
While she may not have had the easiest ride during the show, hopeful Athena still managed to take home more than £2,000.
The player revealed her boyfriend has “ordered’ her to spend some of the money on cooking lessons.
Explaining why, she told Ben: “He can cook but it’s because he follows the receipt. I don’t do that, I just guess.”
Backing her up, the Good Morning Britain regular replied: “Maybe that means you’re more creative.”
Earlier on in the show, Ben was unable to hide his amusement after Athena said rhubarb was a “starchy root vegetable”.
Smirking he correctly told her the answer was actually “potato”.
At the end of the round, Athena brought up the error making light of her fail.
Smiling, Ben chuckled before carrying on.
Tipping Point continues weekdays at 4pm on ITV
