Who is new Chaser Darragh Ennis? Meet genius former player who has joined show

The Chase viewers might remember their brand new chaser Darragh Ennis who arrived on the show tonight – as he was a former contestant on the show back in 2017.

Eagle-eyed viewers had guessed that Darragh has bagged the job after he teased the role earlier this year.

After days of teasing his arrival onto the show, the new Chaser was finally unveiled, much to the excitement of viewers, as he was introduced as “The Menace”.

ITV bosses offered a glimpse of their new chaser to the excitement of fans earlier this month, but failed to reveal his identity.

In the clip, the show’s host, Bradley Walsh quips: “Are we taking on a mystery brain box from somewhere on the planet?”

Alongside the video, the caption read: “Everyone has been asking about it, and today you got a glimpse of what is to come with a look at the new Chaser’s silhouette.

And it was soon confirmed that Darragh had landed the gig to be the sixth brainiac on the popular tea-time quiz show.

He joins Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha.

Tweeting about his new role, Darragh wrote: “I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase.

“I’ve been working hard on this for a while now and can’t wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway.”

Paul Sinha responded, saying: “The night before the producers told us, Anne and Mark and I sat at dinner and pondered ‘Could it be a former contestant?’

“I said, ‘If it is, the best player I faced was an Irish guy who looked a bit like Micky Flanagan’. Welcome to the club mate.”

Fans will remember Darragh if they cast their minds back to 2017.

The then-contestant bagged a whopping £9,000 in his cash builder as he impressed fans with his fountain of knowledge.

His teammates went on to take lower offers – meaning his total was decreased.

Viewers were so outraged they started a “Justice for Darragh” campaign on social media.

Darragh, who is originally from Ireland, previously teased that he was “really excited to be the 6th chaser” on the programme.

The most recent addition to the Chasers’ team was Jenny Ryan, in 2015.
