Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor has died aged 67 at a Mumbai hospital having been admitted with breathing difficulties.
Rishi had been part of the Kapoor family, who dominated the Hindi film industry.
He burst onto the Bollywood scene in 1970 playing his father in child form in the film Mera Naam Joker, before getting his first lead role in the 1973 hit film Bobby.
Throughout his career which spanned across three decades, he had frequently played the romantic lead before making the move to character roles.
Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, returning to India in September 2019 after a year-long treatment programme in New York.

The former actor was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after complaining of breathing difficulties.
His brother and fellow actor Randhir Kapoor confirmed reports that he was taken to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
Confirming the news of his death, fellow Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: “T 3517 – He’s GONE ..! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed!”

Since the news broke fans have taken to social media to share their condolences, with one tweeting: “Legendary Bollywood Actor #RishiKapoor is no more. This is so terrible. #RestInPeace.”
While a second added: “#Rishi Kapoor RIP.you will be dearly missed.”
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted: “My heart is so heavy. This is the end of an era. #Rishisir your candid heart and immeasurable talent will never be encountered again.
“Such a privilege to have known you even a little bit. My condolences to Neetu maam, Ridhima, Ranbir and the rest of the family. Rest in peace, Sir.”
He is survived by wife Neetu Singh and his two children Riddhima and Ranbir Kapoor.
