Adele shares emotional message as she pays tribute on Grenfell Tower anniversary

Adele posted a moving and powerful video on the third anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire.

The songstress, 32, joined the nation in a virtual commemoration service on Instagram to honour the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy.

Speaking to the camera, the Hello hitmaker admitted she was “proud” to be part of Grenfell United, who are working together for the community and campaigning for safe homes, justice and change.

She said: “Adele here.

“In the virtual world, it’s still so important to mourn together and remember that night and reflect on where we are now celebrating the lives that were lived.

“I think this year more than ever there has never been more appropriate time commandery and compassion and persistence for answers. Persistence for action.

“It’s a scientific fact human beings are pact animals, not supposed to be left on our own we need each other to survive.

“It’s one of my proudest things to be involved in Grenfell United for true justice and protection of justice…”

She added: “It’s a fact that human beings are not supposed to be left on our own, we need each other to survive. I truly see the action of the community.”

Adele concluded her message by saying she would return in the near future, and meet up with the community once more.

She said: ‘I’m so sad that we’re not all together, it’s always a very sombre event, it’s also beautiful and the kids are running around.

“I hope we can all do that before the anniversary next year. I miss you all but I can’t wait to see you all, thinking of you all more than ever. Stay safe, stay healthy.”

The fire was started on by a malfunctioning fridge-freezer on the fourth floor, and spread rapidly through the building due to the building’s flammable cladding.

More than 250 London Fire Brigade firefighters and 70 fire engines were involved from stations all across London in efforts to control the blaze, which took over 24 hours to put out.

The public inquiry into the disaster was paused in March because of the pandemic and is due to restart on July 6.
