Aliens’ actor Jay Benedict has died aged 68 from coronavirus.
His official website shared the sad news on Saturday stating the star passed away due to complications after contracting covid-19.
The statement read: “It is with profound sorrow that we must announce Jay’s death on the 4th of April due to complications arising from a COVID-19 infection.”
TCG Artists’ Management, who represented Jay, wrote: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear client Jay Benedict, who this afternoon lost his battle with COVID-19. Our thoughts are with his family.”

The 68-year-old has appeared in several high-profile films and TV shows during his illustrious career such as portraying Russ Jordan in Aliens as well as starring in The Dark Knight Rises.
He was also known as playing John Kieffer, the US Army officer and friend of Christopher Foyle, in Foyle’s War.
Most recently, he has featured in a number of well-loved UK shows including Downton Abbey, Dickensian, Call the Midwife and Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands.

Following the news of the actor’s passing, friends and former co-stars soon flooded social media with heartfelt tributes and messages of condolences.
Soho Voices wrote: “We are broken-hearted to hear that Jay Benedict has tragically passed away. He was such a generous, open-hearted guy loved by everyone at Soho Voices.
“We were truly honoured to represent such an incredibly talented artist. We will miss you dearly buddy. xxx.”

During his career, he also worked in French and Spanish, appearing as Paul Matthiews in the French day-time soap opera Cap des Pins and William Wilbur in Le Grand Charles (a French mini-series on Charles De Gaulle), among many other roles.
He was married to actress Phoebe Scholfield and together they ran Sync or Swim, a company providing post-production ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) services to the film and television industry.
The couple had two sons together, Leopold and Freddie – and Jay also had a daughter called Alexis from a previous marriage.
