Amanda Holden praises 'brave' Piers Morgan for his opinions during pandemic

Amanda Holden has heaped praise on Piers Morgan for “not sitting on the fence” with his opinions during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The acid-tongued Good Morning Britain presenter, who recently had to take a coronavirus test after showing symptoms, has been at the forefront of challenging MPs over the lack of testing and PPE for frontline workers as the outbreak continues.

Amanda, who appeared alongside Piers when he was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, admitted she “adores” her long-time friend.

Speaking to Metro, she explained: “He’s really brave because he never ever sits on the fence, I adore him,” adding that Morgan was someone who “always puts things into perspective”.

She added: “He certainly makes me laugh. If I ever need any advice about anything, I think, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe that’s been written about me or said’, he’s always like, ‘Just think about the bigger picture or what it means’, and I adore him for that.”

Piers’ berating of MPs on Good Morning Britain has divided viewers after his fiery interview with Care Minister Helen Whately last month.

During the heated discussion, the 58-year-old called out the MP for the lack of coronavirus testing in care homes after reports thousands of patients have already died from the bug.

While many thought Piers was out of line for the way in which he conducted the interview, many backed the TV host and felt it was fair how he held Helen “to account”.

The host was slapped with 2,000 Ofcom complaints following the heated discussion.

But Piers had to bow out of presenting Good Morning Britain after he was advised by doctors to take a coronavirus test.

Taking to Twitter, the father-of-four revealed he would be taking time off co-hosting the daytime ITV show until his results came back.

24-hours later he announced her had tested negative for the bug and would be returning to the programme next Monday.

GMB isn’t quite the same without critical Piers.
