Ant McPartlin's ex Lisa Armstrong is Ms Nasty judge on new TV make-up contest

Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist Lisa Armstrong is just as strict as the TV judges on the BBC show.

The ex-wife of Ant McPartlin admits it is because she and her backstage team are under pressure to ensure the celebrities and the dancers look fabulous for millions of viewers.

Lisa shows her mettle when she becomes a guest judge on Stacey Dooley’s series Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star – a Bake Off-style contest for budding make-up artists.

The final four contestants were invited to Strictly’s Movie Week last autumn for inspiration and asked to turn models into famous film characters and superheroes.

No-nonsense Lisa helped score their efforts while sitting at the TV judges’ desk – and proved just as cutting as Craig Revel Horwood.

Her comments included “her attitude stinks”, “her negativity would push me over the edge”, “it feels like it’s paintings by numbers”, “if I was doing the live shows I’d be having a meltdown” and “it’s messy and there’s no finesse”.

Lisa explained how everything is over the top on Strictly and that it would not be the same without tons of glitter and sparkle.

She revealed: “We have some key fundamentals which I call Strictly-fying a look. It’s all about the glamour – so don’t be afraid to use glitter, sparkle and lashes.

“Throw everything at it.”

Fans can find out how the final four – James, Ophelia, Eve and Hannah – fare with Lisa, and also fellow experts Val Garland and Dominic Skinner, judging them when Glow Up airs on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer on Thursday.
