Bella Hadid hits out Instagram for 'bullying' her over Palestinian heritage

Bella Hadid has hit out at Instagram after the site removed a post showing the inside of her dad’s Palestinian passport.

The international cover girl claimed to her 31.4 million followers that the social media site was “bullying” her after they removed her post.

The photograph showed the picture page of her 71-year-old dad Mohamed Hadid’s, who was born in Palestine American passport, which was issued in Washington.

A screenshot shared by Bella, 23, from Instagram claims that her post went against “Community Guidelines” based on “harassment or bullying”.

Hitting out in a blistering attack, the model of Dutch and Palestinian descent said: “Instagram removed my story that only said ‘My baba And his birthplace of Palestine’ with a photograph of his American passport.

“@instagram exactly what part of me being proud of my father’s birthplace of Palestine is ‘bullying, harassment, graphic, or sexual nudity’?”

Gigi Hadid’s sister continued: “Are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying.”

“You can’t erase history by silencing people. It doesn’t work like that.”

Not wanting to be silenced, Bella re-shared Mohamed US passport showing his birthplace alongside the caption: “I am proud to be Palestinian.”

She went on to add: “Everyone should post where their mother and fathers were born today.

“Remind them how proud you are of where you come from!”

Fans instantly took to Twitter to stand in solidarity with Bella.

One fan tweeted: “We are sick of having Palestinian content censored on social media platforms.”

A second went on to add: “The message is clearly, ‘Palestine will not be permitted to exist’ in your minds, on IG, or elsewhere.”

While a third said: “I have respect for Bella Hadid because she posted her dads passport that showed his birthplace of Palestine and Instagram removed it and she posted again… people are trying so hard to erase Palestine completely but never will.”

Mohamed was born in Nazareth

“It goes against @instagram ‘community guidelines’ to be a Palestinian. Let that sink in,” penned a fourth.

Both Bella and Gigi Hadid have previously used their platforms to campaign for the equal treatment and co-existence of Palestinians and Israelis.

Mohamed was born in Nazareth which today sits in Israel.
