Ben Shephard branded one contestant’s game tactic as “impressive” on this evening’s Tipping Point, as he battled to get into the final round.
Having made it to the semi-final, player David was left stumped when a question about pop group Steps came up on the screen, passing to fellow contestant Richard.
The question read: “Released in 2019, ‘My Wildest Dreams’ is the debut solo album by which member of Steps?”
Though the query was a tricky one for some, Ben couldn’t believe his eyes when Richard started listing off the members of Steps.

He named each of them, suggesting band members Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer, and Ian “H” Watkins as possible options.
Then, he deduced Claire would be the most likely to release a solo single, as he plumped for the right answer.
He asked: “Is the answer Claire?”
Ben was shocked as the studio lit up green, saying: “Impressive!”

Praising his performance, he added: “Very good answer that. Do you know what – you got yourself a counter.”
Unfortunately, the counter failed to bring home the bacon, as Ben lamented there had been “no damage done, unfortunately, despite that great display of Steps knowledge.”
Proving his worth, Richard managed to make it into the final, hoping to swoop up the jackpot prize.
Revealing his plans to spend his winnings, he said: “Last year myself and the girlfriend went to Florida, so we’d like to go back there.

“And, we’d like to put a deposit down on our own place.”
Unfortunately, Richard earned just £2,800, narrowly missing out on the £10,000 prize as the counter teetered on the edge of the slot machine.
Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
