BGT's Amanda Holden dishes on surprise EastEnders appearances as a teenager

Amanda Holden has opened up about her first acting gig, admitting she first cut her teeth in the entertainment industry when she was a youngster.

Speaking on the Heart Breakfast show with co-hosts Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts, the BGT babe revealed she rubbed shoulders with EastEnders icons including Iain Beale.

Opening up about her time on the soap during the 90s, she confessed “there was a lot of messing around with rude fruit” and she “had a lot of fun”.

Kicking off the conversation, Amanda said: “When I left drama school, EastEnders was one of the first jobs I got. I had to look after someone’s stall for half an hour which was like four episodes or something.

“I didn’t know you were in EastEnders,” Jamie said, adding: “There’s pictures though?”

She laughed: “I was opposite Adam Woodyatt, your ex-flatmate, that’s not true [laughs].

“Stop it!,” Jamie exclaimed.

Discussing her time on the show, Amanda recalled moments during takes where they made their own fun with edible items.

“Iain Beale, I looked after a jewellery stall and he had his fruit and veg, there was a lot of messing around with rude fruit that’s all I’m going to say. I had a lot of fun, it was a nice show to do,” she said.

Amanda has appeared in many TV shows during her career, including a stint on Wild at Heart, Kiss Me Kate, and Mad About Alice.

The TV host currently appears on Britain’s Got Talent

Amanda has since moved into TV judging and can be found on the Britain’s Got Talent panel, with the 14th series currently halted.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the semi-finals and final have had to be postponed.

It is still unknown when the show will return.
