Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston talks coronavirus battle as he makes plea to fans

Bryan Cranston has described himself as lucky after beating coronavirus.

The Breaking Bad star revealed that he is currently recovering from Covid-19, having contracted the virus despite being “pretty strict in adhering to the protocols”.

The 64-year-old actor, who played the genius Walter White in the iconic TV series, took to Instagram on Thursday to lift the lid on his experience.

Bryan pleaded with his fans to “keep wearing the damn mask” and to keep following other preventative measures as the coronavirus pandemic rages on.

In the eye-opening video, the actor is seen standing outside of the UCLA Blood & Platelet Center as he shared with his followers that he is donating his plasma that contains Covid-19 antibodies to those who are still fighting off the virus.

The video shows him going into hospital to allow medics to take some of his blood for analysis.

“Hopefully the plasma donation can help some other people,” he said.

Captioning the video, Bryan wrote: “Hi. About now you’re probably feeling a little tied down, restricting your mobility and like me, you’re tired of this!!

“Well, I just want to encourage you to have a little more patience.

“I was pretty strict in adhering to the protocols and still… I contracted the virus. Yep. It sounds daunting now that over 150,000 Americans are dead because of it.”

The Breaking Bad icon went on to describe his symptoms and insisted that he was one of the lucky ones to have beaten the killer bug.

He explained: “I was one of the lucky ones. Mild symptoms. I count my blessings and urge you to keep wearing the damn mask, keep washing your hands, and stay socially distant.

The actor said that he realised he had coronavirus “quite early on” as he suffered a “slight headache” and “tightness of chest.”

He also suffered the less common symptom when he “lost all taste and smell.”

“We can prevail but ONLY if we follow the rules. Be well and stay well” he concluded the poignant post.

Bryan Cranston appeared in the US sitcom Seinfeld in the 90s, and then later shot to fame in Malcolm in the Middle in the noughties.

However it was his role as Walter White in Breaking Bad that made him a major household name.

There have been more than 150,000 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths in the US since the pandemic begun.
