Celebrity Gogglebox fans 'disappointed' with last episode of the series

The last episode of Celebrity Gogglebox aired on Friday – but viewers were left “disappointed” after they realised they had seen the episode before.

A few minutes into the programme, fans noticed that they were watching a repeat, with Channel 4 airing a “best of 2020” show – rather than any new material.

The episode, which aired at 9pm, kicked off with a well-loved scene between former boxer Chris Eubank and his son Chris Eubank Jr.

The episode featured a whole number of additional celebrities including Rylan Clark Neal and his mum, Shaun Ryder and Bez, Roman Kemp and dad Martin, as well as Denise van Outen, and Nick Grimshaw.

Twitter was soon set alight with Gogglebox viewers complaining that the TV network had decided not to run with any new scenes.

Despite seeing many famous faces, viewers soon vented their frustration on Twitter and complained that the show, was in fact, a repeat.

One wrote: “I got this far in to realise that this week’s Celebrity Goggles isn’t a new one I hate myself.”

“Disappointed that this is a repeat,” one wrote, while a second chipped in: “Oh no it’s a repeat.”

“Why are we having best bits of last series and not the series that has just been on?,” a third asked.

While fans were left gutted over the episode re-run, viewers of the show won’t have to wait a while as Channel 4 announced the series will return to the small screen in September.

The show, which was affected by lockdown, wrapped up in May, but TV bosses confirmed the regular format will air on September 11th.

Tania Alexander penned: “Huge thank you for your kind messages re Gogglebox and Celebrity Gogglebox.

“It really wasn’t easy getting this show to air every week during lockdown but ur support made it all worth it.

She added: “Big shout out to the cast from both shows. AND my amazing team. See y’all on Sept 11th.”
