Coleen Rooney has 'blank cheque' ready as Rebekah Vardy launches libel case

Coleen Rooney isn’t giving up as she plans to win her legal battle against fellow WAG, Rebekah Vardy.

The Liverpool-born businesswoman is reportedly gearing up to splash staggering amounts of cash as the pair go head-to-head.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy’s wife, Rebekah, 38, slapped Coleen with a libel lawsuit following Coleen’s shattering statement.

Last year, Wayne Rooney’s wife sent shockwaves through social media after claiming the Instagram account used by Rebekah Vardy has been leaking stories about the Rooney family to the press.

A claim which Rebekah strongly denies.

Sources close to the Rooney family have claimed Coleen isn’t willing to back down and has a “blank cheque” ready for the hefty legal bills.

Speaking to The Sun, a source close to Coleen said: “Legal fees could easily spiral into seven figures, it’s only going to intensify.”

The insider added that Coleen will not back down after she spent 18 months working out who was leaking stories about her.

“She would obviously prefer this came to an end sooner rather than later but that will only happen if Becky backs down.

“If she won’t, she’s got no qualms about going all the way and has a blank cheque ready,” added the mole.

Peace talks between the pair last month on video conferencing app Zoom broke down, meaning that the pair will meet in court.

However, Rebekah has pledged to call a truce if Coleen apologises and retracts her allegation against Rebekah’s Instagram account.

Coleen last week revealed that she was “disappointed” following Rebekah’s decision to issue libel proceedings.

Mrs Rooney’s lawyer, Paul Lunt of Brabners said: “It is disappointing that Mrs Vardy has chosen to issue court proceedings.

‘”Coleen feels that the time and money involved could be put to better use; her offer to meet face to face still stands.

“Mrs Vardy’s decision to issue court proceedings does at least mean that Coleen’s evidence can be made public when the time is right.”

Daily Star Online has approached a representative for Coleen Rooney for comment.
