Coronation Street star replaced by bosses ahead of sick child abuse plot

Coronation Street bosses have recast Zennon Ditchett – who has played Aadi on the soap since 2009 – as he has decided to leave the show to focus on his A levels.

Aadi will now be played by Manchester actor Adam Hussain, and will appear in the role on April 15, alongside Tanisha Gorey.

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Asha will find herself in the centre of a devastating child abuse storyline, after making a very big mistake.

After she rekindles her relationship with Corey, Asha records some explicit footage of herself on his request and sends it to him.

However, she is horrified when it is sent to all of her friends during a house party and ends up being circulated online.

Tanisha has said about the storyline: “Her first feeling is that her life is ruined, then as time goes on it’s the shock of: ‘Why would he do that to me?’ It’s a deep betrayal from someone she trusted so much, because in her eyes, the only person who could have done this is Corey so all guns are blazing for him.

“It’s absolute despair, shock and disgrace. The fact that everyone at the party knew and had seen it before she did also hits hard.”

Aadi will try and help his sister, but realises he can’t do anything to save Asha’s reputation as her schoolmates begin making fun of her.

It won’t be long before Asha and Aadi’s father Dev finds out the truth, but what will he do when he finds out?

Adam, who will be the new Aadi, has said about his new role: ” I am excited to play the role of Aadi, putting my own twist on him as the character becomes involved in an important new storyline.

“I was already good friends with Tanisha Gorey, before coming to the street, which helps hugely with portraying the bond of brother and sister.”

He added: “Everyone at Coronation Street has been so welcoming, bringing me in to their family and treating me as one of their own.

“I have always associated Coronation Street with family and togetherness which is so important at this time.

“Having already filmed the start of this story before we had to stop production I look forward to returning as part of the amazing team who bring entertainment and joy to the screens of viewers across the nation.”

Corrie continues tomorrow at 7.30pm on ITV.
