Danniella Westbrook says Ross Kemp saved her by refusing to carry on filming EastEnders after she collapsed.
The troubled actress opened up about her history with cocaine addiction and claims soap bosses did nothing to help when the drug almost killer her.
She first tried it at the age of 14, before sliding into a crippling addiction when she became a regular on Albert Square in 1990.
Danni, now 46, said: “I went into EastEnders at 15 and no one told me about the pressures of stuff. I was already taking drugs because I’d been abused as a child and that was given to me early on.”

At the height of her cocaine problem she collapsed on set and a producer wanted her co-stars to carry on.
But Ross, who played Grant Mitchell in the BBC soap, refused to keep filming.
Danniella added: “I passed out from the top of the stairs in the Queen Vic and just collapsed all the way down and Ross caught me.

“The producer went, ‘Pick her up and make her work – we need to get this in the bag.’
“Ross looked into the camera and went, ‘Get her a doctor – this kid is dying. I’m standing down.’
“Barbara Windsor went, ‘I’m standing down.’ And the crew went, ‘We’re standing down.’ And they called me an ambulance.”

In the end Danni’s habit became so bad that she infamously needed surgery to repair the septum on her nose.
The BBC said it would not be commenting on the story.
