Dominic West and wife 'flee UK to hole up in Irish castle' after cosy Lily snaps

Dominic West and his wife Catherine Fitzgerald have left the UK and headed to a castle in Ireland, according to reports.

On Sunday Dominic, who starred in US crime series The Wire, was seen passionately embracing actress Lily, 31, during a trip to Rome.

Yesterday the Brit actor, 50 told how he and Catherine were still an item after they kissed outside their Wiltshire home at a photocall and told press their marriage is “strong”.

They’ve now jetted off to Ireland with their four kids to spend time at Glin Castle in Limerick, which has been in Catherine’s family for generations and is where they tied the knot in 2010.

It is believed Dominic and Catherine plan to spend the upcoming half term break at the castle with their kids so they can enjoy time out of the spotlight, Mail Online reports.

Catherine’s father was the 29th and final Knight of Glin and she grew up at the castle.

After his death her mother Olda decided to sell the castle so her daughter and Dom bought it so it could be kept in the family

The historic building is now a hotel and wedding venue, with part of it used as the family’s residence.

Dominic and Catherine married at the castle in 2010 and have four kids together, daughter Dora, 13, son Senan, 12, son Francis, 11, and Christabel, seven.

In the photos of his Rome trip with Lily Dominic is seen leaning into Lily’s neck and stroking her hair as they dined outside at a restaurant.

He was also seen with his arms around the Mamma Mia! star as they rode a scooter and donned face masks.

In one snap he appeared to grab Lily’s bum, who he is currently starring with in an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s novel The Pursuit Of Love.

Catherine, 49, held a tissue in her hand as well as the handwritten note, which was read to the press by Dom, before the pair kissed in a staged show of affection.

The actor said outside their Wiltshire cottage: “I just want to say our marriage is strong and we are very much still together”.

A friend of Catherine’s claimed she rushed to the couple’s home to console the actor’s wife.

Last Thursday, it was announced that Lily and her now ex-boyfriend Matt had split for good.

“But unfortunately it just isn’t working and they have mutually decided to just close this chapter of their lives.”, a source said.

The former couple have not spoken publicly about their split.

Lily is best known for her roles in Downton Abbey and the live-action Cinderella remake, while Dominic has starred in the likes of Chicago, 300 and the BBC miniseries Les Miserables.
