Eamonn Holmes makes 'best presenter' dig at Phil and Holly on This Morning

Eamonn Holmes ensured that his This Morning co-star’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were aware of just how successful he is when he appeared on the show on Monday morning.

Appearing on the ITV show via video link, 60-year-old Eamonn discussed the fact that 322 Tories voted against extending the campaign for free meals for children over the school holidays.

As he sat at his desk in his Surrey home, plenty of Eamonn’s furnishings could be seen in the background – including one particular accolade.

Prominently on display behind Eamonn was his award for Best UK Breakfast TV Presenter of All Time, which he received in 2017 following a poll of more than 33,000 RadioTimes.com readers.

The gong appeared to be a little bit out of place as there were no other accolades surrounding it in Eamonn’s home office.

Perhaps Eamonn was keen to remind presenting duo Phil and Holly that he is a firm fan favourite when it comes to daytime television.

It comes after Phillip misspelled Eamonn’s name in his new memoir, Life’s What You Make It.

Referring to Eamonn with just one “n” instead of two, the husband of Ruth Langsford was said to be “raging” over the mistake.

A source close to the TV presenter told The Sun: “Eamonn, with two ns, is raging. How did no one pick up on this in 400 pages?

“If it’s a joke, Eamonn certainly wasn’t in on it and the error has ruffled feathers, yet again.”

However, it’s been claimed that Phillip didn’t deliberately spell Eamonn’s name wrong.

A source close to Phil said: “It’s a genuine typo — Phil didn’t have a clue.

“He’ll be mortified to think he might have upset Eamonn.”

Relations between the ITV stars allegedly soured when Eamonn’s wife Ruth, 60, was said to have made an official complaint against Phillip, 58, last year.

Ruth is said to have been angry after Phillip cut her off live on-air during a preview of Loose Women on an episode of This Morning.

And, in January, there was reported to be tensions backstage at the National Television Awards, though the rumoured rift was never confirmed.
